info What Is the TalkOBD Diagnostic Tool?
The warning light is on and you do not know why the vehicle lost power. TalkOBD is a pocket-sized diagnostic tool for exactly that moment: plug it into the OBD port, open the TalkOBD app on your phone and see what the fault is within seconds.
It reads stored and active fault codes, clears them with a single tap once the fault is fixed, and lets you watch live engine data on the road. warning Ford Cargo Fault Lights and DTC Codes
An orange or red warning light on the dashboard (engine, ABS, EBS, battery charge, oil pressure, AdBlue/SCR, etc.) means the related control unit has stored a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in its memory. Whether the light is flashing or on steady, the only way to see what the code means is to connect the vehicle to a diagnostic tool.
On heavy commercial vehicles (including Ford Cargo), fault codes are typically expressed per the SAE J1939 standard as an SPN (Suspicion Parameter Number) and FMI (Failure Mode Identifier) pair: SPN identifies which parameter/component is affected, and FMI identifies the type of failure (short circuit, open circuit, out-of-range value, etc.).
What to do when a light comes on?
Scan the vehicle with TalkOBD, read the DTC (SPN/FMI) on the relevant control unit, and clear it once the fault is fixed.
Which lights can be checked?
The control units behind engine (check engine), ABS, EBS, battery charge, oil pressure and AdBlue/SCR warning lights can be scanned.
Is the code alone enough?
