Online Programming and Coding of a Non-Running BMW Vehicle

With Autel’s latest professional diagnostic tool, the Ultra model, a BMW car that would not start was brought back into working condition through online programming and coding.

A BMW car that is not running but still has the system online is inactive and throwing many faults.

The Autel Ultra diagnostic tool is connected to the vehicle.

With automatic chassis detection, the device automatically scans and finds the vehicle. Entry is made into the system for which the chassis number was found.

This device is also very good for electronics specialists. If they have a collapsed vehicle, they have to take that vehicle to an authorized service and pay a substantial amount.

However, with this device they can bring the vehicle back into working condition again through online coding.

Step-by-Step Programming

• We enter the system of the vehicle we connected to with our tablet and tap the programming section on the left.
• We establish a connection with the server.
• The vehicle’s hardware section appears. Continue with OK.
• The system is scanned automatically.
• The question whether control units were replaced is answered.
• Whichever ECU we want to code is selected.
• From the screen that appears, Programming/Coding is selected.
• The system pulls the files from the server.
• From the screen that appears, “Control Unit List” is selected.
• Then Engine is selected. Identify is pressed. Execute planning is clicked.
• We proceed by confirming the options that appear.
• Meanwhile the vehicle’s battery must be in good condition because the vehicle consumes a lot of energy during this process.
• Battery support is applied and the voltage is stabilized at 13 Volt.
• Continuing from your device, the coding operation is started.
• The system performs the coding automatically.
• Continue by pressing OK.
• The system will give a “Successful” warning and the vehicle will become operational.
• At the same time everything on the vehicle’s instrument cluster returns to normal.
• The device carries out its final checks and clears system faults.
• Then the ignition is switched off and on. All fault lamps are seen to go out.
• Continuing operations from our tablet, automatic scan is clicked on the panel that appears. By selecting fault scan, all ECU maps on the car will appear.
• The Topology feature on the vehicle shows where the fault in the engine ECU originates from, including its diagram, the expected voltage and the ECU pins.
• Control Unit is selected from our tablet. Then Driver and then Engine Electronics are clicked; when we select Read Problems we can view the faults.

At the same time, key coding and ECU coding operations are also performed with Ultra.
