There are two types of automatic transmission today: electronically controlled and mechanically controlled.

Both operate with fluid pressure, but in an electronically controlled automatic transmission, control is handled by the microprocessor that manages the system according to information stored in EPROM memory.

In manual transmissions, you can drain all the fluid by opening the sump plug. This is not possible with automatic transmissions.

Launch Cat-501S lets you change automatic transmission fluid easily by cleaning the dirty, worn fluid remaining inside the torque converter, cooler and cooler lines.

First, the line going to the oil cooler is disconnected. The fluid tank has one inlet and one outlet. Suitable adapters are fitted to these lines.

After the vehicle is started, the automatic transmission pump transfers the dirty fluid inside to the dirty-fluid tank of the exchange machine, while at the same time clean fluid from the machine passes through the oil cooler and continues until the dirty fluid coming from the cooler outlet is flushed out.

If you perform this process with Launch Cat-501S you complete both fluid cleaning and replacement fully.

For the new fluid to work efficiently, fluid may need to be added again after calibration and a test drive.

If transmission fluid is low, clutch engagement weakens.
