How to Check the EBS Brake System with Jaltest Heavy-Duty Diagnostic Tool
EBS (electronic braking system) is a brake system that provides the best control during braking in a vehicle.
It is a brake system in which ABS (anti-lock control system) and ASR (anti-slip system) inside the brake system work connected as a single system.
With electronic control, it responds in less time than conventional pneumatic systems, which is very important for safer and more practical driving on the road.
EBS consists of a fully pneumatic dual-circuit system, plus single-circuit electro-pneumatic systems on top of it.
The single-circuit electro system section consists of two ABS valves from the rear axle modulator through a central control unit and a proportional relay for the front axle.
The brake value transmitter determines brake pedal input and sends information to the unit. It also allows air flow to pass according to brake pedal position.
Electronic Control Unit
Thanks to signals from sensors, the rear axle modulator, and the brake value transmitter, it can take necessary information from the magnetic valve of each wheel and send signals to control braking.
Proportional Relay Valve: Measures brake force applied on the front axle and reports it to the ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
ABS Magnetic Valves: Receive the appropriate tire pressure condition determined by the ECU and increase or decrease passage of pressurized air according to conditions.
Redundancy Valve: Allows pressure to be held at a fixed value when a fault occurs in the pneumatic system.
Axle Modulator: A module that measures rear axle brake wheel pressures; as rear brake pads wear, it sends information from sensors to the control unit.
EBS control evaluates slip and deceleration measurement during operation. Slip and deceleration on wheels are determined by changes in rpm counts.
EBS can improve balance in all road conditions. With its stopping behavior in emergencies, it removes unnecessary stress. This type of sudden stable response may not be possible with normal pneumatic brake systems.
To perform detailed fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair on EBS (Electronic Brake System), you need a device that can perform detailed testing of brake modules.
Standard diagnostic tools are not sufficient for brake ECU repair, but detailed testing and repair of brake ECUs can be performed with the Jaltest ETM device.
