Magicmotorsport Flex EDC7UC31: How to Read and Write the ECU

Magicmotorsport Flex EDC7UC31: How to Read and Write the ECU

What is chip tuning?

Chip tuning is the process of reading and modifying the software in a vehicle's engine control unit to increase performance from factory-default settings.

With chip tuning you can change many parameters so the vehicle performs better. Cars leave the factory with standard performance maps.

Chip-tuned vehicles gain higher power and torque limits, which can also reduce fuel consumption. In earlier years chip tuning mainly changed ignition timing; today it is used primarily to extract more engine performance.

ECU chips handle many detailed operations such as ambient temperature, boost pressure control, and fuel injection.

Software changes made with chip tuning tools update the data stored in these chips to the new configuration.

Which Engine Types Suit Chip Tuning?

Chip tuning is most suitable for turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines and is applied accordingly.

On average it delivers about 20–25% more performance and fuel savings.

These procedures do not automatically void the vehicle warranty.

Magicmotorsport Flex EDC7UC31: How to Read and Write the ECU

Magicmotorsport is a world-renowned company. It not only performs chip tuning but also handles DSG transmission coding, EGR solutions, DPF solutions, and immobilizer solutions smoothly.

The Magicmotorsport Flex device is offered in two packages: Slave and Master.

With the Slave package you are linked to a dealer and send your files to that dealer to complete the work.

With the Master package you write files yourself, connect freely to any dealer you choose, or operate your own dealer network.

EDC7UC31 — first connect your Flex device to the ECU. The system will show which port to use.

For example via OBD or Bench connection. After connecting, the software shows a wiring diagram for how to connect the tool to the ECU. Flex shows connections with images in the program. Correct wiring lets you communicate with the ECU.

After connection, download your files, make the required edits and software changes, then write back to the vehicle through the Flex software.
