UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) is the widely used application protocol in modern vehicle diagnostics. DoIP is diagnostic transport over Ethernet. DoIP comes up more often on VAG's newer platforms.
The assumption that "every OBD cable does DoIP" is not reliable. DoIP-capable interfaces such as vag-vas-6154 and an up-to-date vag-odis are required. For classic fleets, vag-vas-5054 still makes sense.
