Which Models Does the Volkswagen Steering Column Lock Emulator Support and How Does It Work?

The steering column lock fault is something that has happened to every driver. Sometimes, when we want to start our vehicle, we cannot insert the key into the ignition.

This situation can throw drivers into a state of panic. This briefly alarming situation is actually a measure taken by vehicle manufacturers against theft.

This precaution was designed to protect the vehicle against theft when the driver leaves it.

Some of these measures — such as the immobilizer, alarm system and steering lock system — are systems that can prevent the vehicle from being stolen.

These systems, installed in the vehicle by the manufacturer, prevent the steering wheel from being turned even when the key is not in the ignition, and beyond a certain point cause the steering wheel to lock.

There does not need to be anything unusual for the vehicle's steering wheel to lock. The steering wheel can lock under normal conditions as well. If we look at why it locks;

  •     Holding onto the steering wheel when stopping the vehicle or while starting it,
  •     Touching the steering wheel with your knee before inserting the key into the ignition,
  •     It is also quite likely that any existing problem in the vehicle can trigger the steering lock system.

In these situations, thanks to the Volkswagen Steering Column Lock Emulators manufactured by us at Nitro Mekatronik, you can resolve the problem you are experiencing in a very short time.

Column lock emulators, which are the size of a matchbox, are very simple and practical products used to solve problems that may occur in vehicles through their ELV modules.

So how do we use this simple and practical column lock emulator?

  •     We remove the 4-pin connector from the ELV,
  •     We plug the removed connector into the column lock emulator,
  •     We turn the ignition and start the vehicle.
  •     If no problem is encountered while connecting the emulator, the LED lights up once.
  •     But if a problem has occurred during the connection of the column lock emulator, the LED lights will flash continuously.

The Steering Column Lock Emulator is compatible with the Volkswagen Sprinter and Crafter models.

If no problem occurred after connecting the emulator, there is nothing further that needs to be done. The emulator will become active after connection.
