Catalytic
converters are designed to prevent toxic gases produced from the fuel used by cars from mixing directly with the air. We can say they are the filter system of vehicles.
They are placed on the exhaust outlet pipe. They resemble a steel box. Compared with other systems in the car, they work in a fairly simple way.
But the task they undertake is at least as important as theirs. Cars and their fuels are the main cause of air pollution.
Especially in large cities with high population density, it causes environmental pollution reaching serious dimensions.
Expert scientists opposed this pollution and decided to carry out some work to protect the environment and designed catalytic converters.
The catalyst contains special material coated with zirconium dioxide. When toxic gas passes through the area where these materials are located, it enters a chemical reaction.
With the reaction in final combustion,
these gases become less harmful. They then mix with the air from the exhaust pipe. The catalytic converter operates at 480–650 degrees Celsius
and has a service life of around 80,000 km.
Countries have introduced certain restrictions and standards to reduce the amount of air pollution caused by vehicles.

What Are the Fault Symptoms?

- Fuel consumption can reach much higher litres than normal
- Exhaust inspection values rise and harmful gases are released into the environment

- Engine fault light stays on constantly.
