WHAT IS THE EGR VALVE? WHAT DOES IT DO?
EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
The purpose of the EGR valve is to return a portion between 6% and 10% of exhaust gases expelled from the cylinders through the intake manifold, mixed with clean air, back into the cylinders, minimizing unburned fuel in the exhaust gas.
When exhaust gases in the cylinders are reintroduced into the combustion process, harmful gases such as nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) are burned again.
A large portion of these gases expelled from the cylinder also returns toward the EGR line.
However, what the EGR system does lowers exhaust emission values somewhat and is not sufficient on its own.
Therefore, before exhaust gases are released into the atmosphere, they generally pass through a particulate filter on diesel vehicles and through a catalytic converter on gasoline vehicles.
On the other hand, some diesel models have both a catalytic converter and a particulate filter.
While the catalytic converter can filter CO2 gases successfully, it cannot adequately filter nitrogen oxide, nitrogen dioxide, unburned hydrocarbons (black smoke), and carcinogenic components that appear intensely when diesel burns.
As a result, because these substances form much more in diesel engines, diesel particulate filters are used on these vehicles.
However, thanks to technological advances, many major manufacturers have developed diesel particulate filters that can also filter CO2, eliminating the need for a catalytic converter on diesel engines.

WHY DOES DPF CLOG?
- Generally, a DPF clogs for the following reasons:
- Low-quality fuel,
- Prolonged driving at low speed in stop-and-go traffic,
- Excessive city driving;
- Running the engine at idle for long periods,
- Using oil of the wrong specification.
HOW TO RESOLVE DPF FAILURE?
- If the DPF is clogging for the first time, it can be cleaned through DPF regeneration and used for a while longer. (This can be done a total of 3 times; after the third regeneration it no longer works.)
- The DPF can be replaced with a new one (this procedure is quite costly).
- The DPF system can be deactivated (after this, your vehicle continues to run as if it had no DPF).
- Your DPF can be washed and cleaned with a DPF washing machine (a special fluid is used, the DPF is cleaned with pressurized water and is ready to use like new).
HOW IS DPF CLEANING PERFORMED?
- Clogged or soot-heavy diesel particulate filters are restored to their original condition with an advanced DPF cleaning machine without needing replacement.
- Cleaning is performed fully automatically by the machine. First, cleaning fluid injection begins. Then a reset is performed for measurement and a DPF status report is printed for you.
- After dissolution, accumulated sediment is expelled from the filter. Drying completes the cleaning. The cleaned area is measured and a report is printed.
- To protect the environment during cleaning, sediment collected in the waste tank is filtered before disposal.
- This prevents dirty waste from entering the environment. The cleaning fluid is produced with nano technology and penetrates channels below 1 mm in the particulate filter, dissolving nearly 100% of particulates that cause blockage.
- The particulate filter is removed from the vehicle and mounted on the machine without damaging the original system; no welding or similar work is performed, and the cleaning fluid does not harm the filter in any way.
