Electrical Vehicle Types

Today, many companies have increased their electric vehicle production in line with increasing demands and zero emission targets, and they have announced that they will produce only electric vehicles in the following years.

The European Union has also stated that it will ban vehicles with internal combustion engines from 2035.

This decision taken in the European region, which has an important place in the car production market, will soon affect all other regions. In this direction, it is very possible to see only electric vehicles on the roads in the coming years.

What is an electric vehicle and what are the types of electric vehicles?

Electric cars are vehicles used for transportation, just like cars with internal combustion engines.

Although these vehicles look like internal combustion engine cars in appearance, they are actually quite different vehicles.

Electric vehicles are vehicles that enable us to move by converting the energy from the battery to the engine into mechanical energy.

Electric vehicles are quite different from other vehicles in terms of the parts inside. Parts such as fuel tank, internal combustion engine, exhaust and electric vehicles are not found.

There are various types of electric vehicles.

These species are; hybrid, hybrid plug-in, range extended vehicle and pure electric vehicle.

Types of electric vehicles and their functions:

Hybrid vehicle: This type of vehicle has both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. In this type of vehicle, the electric motor works in coordination with the internal combustion engine.

The vehicle, on the other hand, charges the battery without using a socket, thanks to 'regenerative braking'.

Hybrid Plug-in vehicle: This type of vehicle is very similar to a hybrid vehicle, except that it has a range of only 25-50 km. The battery is charged by plugging it into the socket.

Extended range vehicle: This vehicle type also has both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

Unlike the hybrid vehicle, in this type of vehicle, the movement of the electric motor takes place through the internal combustion engine feeding the electric motor.

In this vehicle type, too, the battery is charged via the mains.

Pure electric vehicle: This vehicle type is the electric vehicle we know. It contains only the electric motor.

Its battery is charged via the mains. Vehicle range varies from vehicle to vehicle. Some vehicles can go 200 km on a full charge, while others can go 500 km on a full charge.

It is indisputable that vehicle ranges will increase considerably as technology increases.

In short, with current technologies, we can reach these electric vehicle types. These vehicle types are somewhat similar to each other in their range and operating logic.

As technology develops, new vehicle types can be added to these vehicle types, and even if new ones are not added, the vehicle types will develop immensely.
