What Is Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration?
DPF, or diesel particulate filter, are filters fitted to diesel-engined vehicles so that harmful gases produced while the vehicle is moving are not released directly into the environment.
These filters fill over time and begin to clog. Low-quality oil and fuel use, driving at low speed in stop-and-go traffic in the city, and running the vehicle at idle are among the reasons the vehicle filter fills.
Uncleaned filters increase both fuel consumption and environmental damage due to rising exhaust gases.
To prevent the filter from clogging, the soot level accumulated in the filter should be measured and regeneration — the process we refer to — should be performed before levels become high.
Diesel particulate filter regeneration is a cleaning process that prevents clogging by burning the particulates accumulated inside the filter. Regeneration can be performed in different ways.
If the soot level measured with a diagnostic tool is at low levels, vehicle users can clean the filters themselves through self-cleaning at high heat by using the vehicle at high RPM without needing a machine.
This method cannot be done in city traffic; it is performed on long journeys when the engine is warmed up and used at high RPM (3000–3500) for a certain period.
When the engine runs at high RPM, exhaust gas temperature rises, particulates burn and are expelled, and the filter is cleaned manually.
Another cleaning method is regeneration performed with a device. With the device, the vehicle engine is brought to high RPM; when engine temperature rises, soot accumulated in the filter begins to burn and the vehicle expels soot with smoke.
Filters are cleaned through computers or devices without needing to drive in out-of-town traffic.
You can find devices at our company with which you can see the filter soot level and perform DPF regeneration.
Our company, a leading name in the sector, is the official distributor of many brands and has highly successful diagnostic tools for DPF regeneration as well as many service operations across a wide price range for every budget.
At our branches you can both purchase products and have diesel particulate filter regeneration performed at our garage branches.
You can clean particulate filters that have not yet fully clogged manually or with device assistance, reduce your fuel consumption and improve vehicle performance. In this way you can extend the time until the filter reaches full blockage.
