VAG EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) Fault | Nitro Bilişim

EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) is the electronic parking brake on VAG vehicles. Symptoms can include failure to release/apply, a warning light, a service position error, or a related DTC.

When replacing pads, diagnostic equipment is often used to open/close the service position. This page does not provide instructions for bypassing safety systems.

Possible causes

  • Actuator / motor fault
  • Wiring or connector
  • Power supply / ground
  • Control unit or software; vag-adaptation may be required

Diagnosis: vag-odis or supported aftermarket tools. For gateway-related side effects, see vag-gateway-j533-fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is EPB released when replacing pads?

A service function is used depending on the vehicle and software. This page makes no general "same menu for every model" claim; follow the manufacturer's procedure.

Does EPB lock up when the battery dies?

In some scenarios, voltage issues can produce EPB warnings; check the electrical infrastructure first.
