What Can You Do with the Autel BT609 Battery Tester?
Batteries are a type of energy source that store existing electrical energy as chemical energy so it can be used when needed.
All the vehicles we use can operate thanks to the battery. Unfortunately, we cannot move a vehicle whose battery is dead or faulty.
That is why batteries are regarded as one of the most important parts of our vehicles. Battery failures are caused either by manufacturing defects or user error.
Once the cause of the fault is found and corrected, the vehicle can be started again.
Batteries that fail due to manufacturing defects usually appear shortly after the vehicle is started. Because of this fault, the battery no longer has enough energy to start the vehicle.
Failures caused by user error result from sulfation due to overcharging.
In addition, batteries exposed to very high temperatures have shorter service lives. In this situation, the battery can discharge much faster.
The battery’s charging pattern is disrupted. When the charging pattern is disrupted, sulfation occurs.
So how can we tell if the battery is being overcharged?
The answer is actually quite simple.
- When a battery is overcharged, it heats up significantly.
- Because of problems caused by excessive heating, the acid-water ratio in the battery decreases and the water darkens in color.
- Plates may shed material.
- Glass fibers form on the surface of the acid water in the battery.
- When you press the accelerator in the vehicle, a flickering effect occurs.
- The area under the battery vent caps turns black.
To stay on top of our vehicle batteries, we can obtain battery test devices and perform checks.
Battery test devices are tools that let us obtain all the information needed to check and maintain the power source of electrical systems in the vehicle and the vehicle’s most important part—the battery.
The BT609 Battery Tester produced by Autel, whose distributor we are in Turkey, is a very suitable device for all these operations.
With the BT609 you can:
- View fault details, read and clear codes,
- View vehicle diagnostic history,
- Reset service and oil maintenance lights,
- Injector coding,
- Battery adaptation and reset and many other operations with the Autel BT609.
