What Is an ECU and How Is ECU Repair Done?

WHAT IS AN ECU AND HOW IS ECU REPAIR DONE?

It is an electronic system used to control automobiles. Vehicles contain many sensors.

It reads the data coming from the sensors found in the vehicle.

As technology advances, there is a growing desire to keep vehicles under control.

As a result of this control, more data is expected in areas such as comfort, safety, fuel and performance.

The ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is also referred to as a computer.

The ECU (Electronic Control Unit) is smaller in size than the head units found in vehicles.

It can also be called the brain of the vehicle.

The ECU controls and monitors the operating conditions of the engine in the vehicle and calculates the parameters within the vehicle.

Among the systems the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) monitors and manages, an important one is ABS.

All of the processes taking place inside the vehicle are carried out by the ECU.

The injection system, which has evolved along with vehicles, performs operations such as fuel and air regulation based on the information collected by the sensors in both gasoline and diesel vehicles.

HOW IS ECU REPAIR DONE?

ECUs have their own dedicated software. For the software, ECU settings can be adjusted using the data obtained from the vehicle by connecting to a computer via a USB cable.

Before starting the repair, the accuracy of the values shown through the computer connection is checked, and to ensure the tests are correct, the system settings are cleared and restored to factory defaults.

If no fault is found in the ECU, the components are checked. Faults are located and the faulty parts are replaced. The replaced component on the ECU board is protected by applying a special coating fluid.

In this way, the ECU is refurbished and continues to work as it did before.
