What Is ADAS?
ADAS warns drivers in dangerous situations and helps prevent accidents. It reduces driver error and acts as an alert in sudden situations.
ADAS is also called an advanced driver assistance system. Radar, camera and ultrasonic sensor data is processed while driving to detect hazards early.
When danger is detected, ADAS warns the driver or intervenes depending on the vehicle. Designed for safe, comfortable driving on new-generation passenger, light commercial and heavy-duty vehicles.
ADAS works with mechanical and electronic systems. Speed, road condition and wheel geometry affect ADAS decisions. Changes after calibration can cause decision errors.
After repairs or part replacement on ADAS-equipped vehicles, ADAS calibration is required — e.g. after front/rear collisions, bumper or windscreen replacement.
Where is ADAS used on heavy-duty vehicles?
Night vision: Infrared/thermal camera system that detects movement outside the driver's view at night.
Blind spot warning: Sensors and radar warn the driver audibly or visually of surrounding hazards.
High beam assist: Windscreen cameras adjust lighting without dazzling oncoming traffic and steer beams in corners.
Lane keeping system: Front camera tracks lane markings and warns on lane departure.
