Where Is Particulate Filter Cleaning Done in Adana?

The particulate filter cleans harmful gases and particles generated in the engine and allows them to be expelled. Over time, the particulate filter fills up and clogs due to harmful gases and particulates.

Unfortunately, clogging of the particulate filter can lead to unwanted consequences.

These include reduced engine performance, failure to reach engine speed on time, emission values that pollute the environment, and excessive fuel consumption.

All these symptoms indicate a problem with the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). You do not need to see these symptoms to monitor a DPF fault. DPF warning signs also appear on the instrument cluster. First, the vehicle tries to clean itself by producing high heat.

This process is called regeneration. However, when the filter is completely clogged, regeneration will not help. In that case, the particulate filter must be cleaned.

There are several main reasons why the particulate filter fills up and clogs. These are:

  • Ash and soot from engine oil,
  • Dirty particles from the engine,
  • Use of low-quality fuel.

How Is a Clogged Particulate Filter Cleaned?

There are three different methods for cleaning a clogged particulate filter.

  • The vehicle can clean itself through high heat,
  • Cleaning can be achieved through regeneration,
  • Cleaning with a DPF cleaning machine.

Particulate cleaning with a DPF machine is a preferred method for filters that are heavily clogged and filled.

For this process, the filter is removed from the vehicle and placed in the machine, after which a washing operation is performed. After the particulate filter is cleaned in the machine, pressurized water is used as a second stage to clean the pores more effectively.

Thanks to this process, the filter returns to its original condition and you can continue using the original particulate filter.

After the Particulate Filter Is Cleaned

  • The vehicle continues using its original filter,
  • Emission measurement values return to standard levels,
  • Vehicle performance increases and pulling power is restored,
  • Fuel savings are achieved,
  • The turbo starts working correctly,
  • The fault light on the instrument cluster is turned off.
