What is the anti-lag system and how does it work?

Many people today are car enthusiasts. By making various customizations to their vehicles, they make their vehicles much different from the usual state.

One of these customizations is the modifications made to change the exhaust sound coming out of the vehicle.

A very loud exhaust sound is produced from a high-speed car or from vehicles at events such as a rally.

The reason for this loud noise is the Anti-lag System working together with the turbo feeding system in the vehicles. Anti-lag system is a system that eliminates turbo lag.

In today's article, we will talk about the Anti-lag system. For this, first of all, we need to understand the turbo feeding system.

What is the turbo feeding system, what does it do?

Turbo feeding system is an engine feeding system found in internal combustion engines. With this system, it is aimed to increase vehicle performance and reduce fuel consumption.

It is to increase the fuel and air mixture going to the combustion chamber to increase the performance of the vehicle engine.

This is exactly the purpose of the turbocharger, it aims to burn more air and fuel mixture in the engine.

With the turbo, the engine sucks in more air, the sucked air is sent to the high-pressure cylinders and the vehicle comes into contact with more air and the engine runs more powerfully. However, this system has a small problem called 'turbo lag'.

What does turbo-lag mean?

Turbo delay is the time until the required rotation speed of the cylinder providing the turbo feed. In today's turbo vehicles, this delay is less felt.

However, there is still a time difference between the moment the gas is pressed and the turbo reaching the required rotation speed.

What is the anti-lag system, what does it do?

With this system, it is aimed to eliminate the turbo lag. Battery powered rotors are used to reduce lag in everyday passenger cars.

However, this system is not sufficient for car enthusiasts and in competitive areas such as Rally and F1, and the Anti lag system is applied to the vehicles.

Thanks to the anti lag system, the combustion continues in the exhaust continuously, and the energy is continuously transferred to the turbo.

With this system, the problem of turbo lag is eliminated, and the turbo can reach the desired rotation speed continuously.

Does the anti lag system cause any damage to the vehicles?

The biggest harm seen in this system is that it keeps the engine hot all the time. Therefore, the parts in the vehicle wear out faster.

For this reason, regular checks should be made, otherwise the vehicle may become unusable in a short time.

Can we add an anti-lag system to every vehicle?

An anti lag system can be added to any vehicle with a turbo feeding system. However, with this system, the components in the vehicle can wear out quickly and this system may cause legal problems.

If you are not going to use your vehicle in areas such as rally, track and you do not have advanced driving training, it is not recommended to use this system.
