What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Particulate Filters?

The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), mandatory on new-generation diesel vehicles, is a system designed to prevent toxic exhaust gases from being released into the environment.

The Diesel Particulate Filter prevents hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide gases harmful to the environment and human health, as well as other harmful particles generated during engine operation, from entering the air.

For this reason, the Diesel Particulate Filter is checked on all diesel vehicles at inspection stations for proper operation, fill level, and similar criteria. Negative results here can prevent the vehicle from passing inspection.

Since fault or fill conditions in these filters, which must be checked regularly, are transmitted to the ECU via sensors, the driver is informed through the DPF warning light on the instrument cluster.

If this warning light is ignored, the vehicle loses pulling power, DPF clogging may occur, and other components may be damaged.

Early detection and intervention are very important. Otherwise, a Diesel Particulate Filter that could be cleaned simply may require complete replacement or special machine washing and maintenance.

What Should We Do When the DPF Warning Light Comes On?

The warning light indicates a fault in the filter system or that the filter is clogged/not working efficiently due to harmful gases from the engine.

First, the vehicle should be run at a certain speed and high RPM to produce high heat so solidified material in the filter burns off.

If filter cleaning is not achieved, the Diesel Particulate Filter should be removed from the vehicle and washed.

However, this must be done by professional teams with equipment designed for this purpose. Otherwise, incorrect procedures and wrong fluids may require complete filter replacement, causing major costs.

Nitro Mekatronik successfully performs this process with its fully in-house Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaning Machine (DPF).

Offered at very competitive market prices, this machine eliminates DPF as a problem.

These services are also offered professionally to end users through Nitro Garaj services. Thanks to specially produced cleaning fluid, the filter is not damaged and its service life increases.
