What Is the CAN Bus System?

What Is the CAN Bus System?

CAN Bus is a communication protocol developed in the automotive sector to provide maximum efficiency and safety, primarily in automobiles and other technological vehicles.

As the central network system in automobiles and other technological vehicles, CAN Bus connects all modules operating in the vehicle so that the components in the vehicle work together efficiently and effectively.

The incline sensor pushes information onto the communication line, and all units in the vehicle that use incline information operate accordingly.

Because connecting all these modules to each other would be very complicated, a central network system is needed.

CANBus messages sent over protocols are transferred quickly and reliably to other devices with the CANBus standard.

Thanks to the CANBus protocol, it is possible to obtain vehicle speed, ignition information, fuel level in the tank, and instantaneous fuel consumption data over a single data bus.

It has effectively reduced the cabling weight in the system.

Sensors work faster and push the necessary information into the system more precisely.

For this reason, the error rate in the CAN Bus system is also much lower.

CAN bus makes it much easier to find faults and perform diagnostics on a vehicle with a CAN bus system.

With simple interfaces, you can easily see which operations are working.

FEATURES OF THE CAN-BUS SYSTEM:

• Message priority

• Loss-free time security

• Configuration flexibility

• Synchronous multi-reception: the same data can be received by many units

• Ability to handle data density in the system

• Fault detection and generation of fault-related signals

THE IMPORTANCE OF CAN BUS IN VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEMS

  • Information obtained via the CAN line is transferred to the vehicle tracking device.
  • This information transferred to the vehicle tracking device is arranged as an interface to be presented to users.
  • Instantaneous fuel consumption, total fuel consumption, instantaneous changes in fuel level, total vehicle mileage, instantaneous vehicle speed, axle weight, engine temperature, service mileage, fault codes, and many other vehicle data can be obtained through the CAN-Bus system.
  • The data we obtain from the vehicle varies by brand, model, and production year.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CAN BUS SYSTEM IN FAULT DETECTION

Thanks to the CAN Bus protocol, fault detection can be performed easily by connecting a diagnostic tool to all motor vehicles produced today.
