What Is a Ford Cargo ECU Repair Device? How to Use It?

Today's vehicles are equipped with electronic systems.

At the top of these is the ECU (Electronic Control Unit), the engine control unit.

The ECU is also known as the engine ECU. The engine ECU is a unit with a microprocessor that controls all electronic components on the vehicle and the sensors on the vehicle.

When the ECU in a vehicle fails, buying a new ECU is quite costly. In today's technology, ECUs are used in passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, tractors, and construction machinery.

The engine ECU largely controls CAN LINE signals from sensors such as the crankshaft sensor, air flow meter sensor, and turbo pressure sensor to determine the torque produced by the engine and prevent sudden power loss under heavy load. This system is used in all vehicles with an electronic control unit.

Because the inside of the ECU is equipped with a complex electronic integrated system, finding faults in the ECU is a demanding job. Ford Cargo ECU repair is now performed at Nitro Mekatronik Garages.

Knowing how difficult it is to detect faults in engine ECUs — our own field — we finally succeeded in producing the ECUTEST KF-1500 ECU test device after long effort.

With the ECUTEST device we improve every day, you can perform injector testing, crankshaft and camshaft input testing, immobilizer testing, and input and output testing of all sensors on the ECU.

How Is Ford Cargo ECU Repair Performed?

Ford Cargo ECU repair uses the BOSCH EDC7UC31 engine ECU on Ford 1838 heavy-duty vehicles.

ECUTEST connects through pin terminals without opening the ECU. Then, after logging into the EcuTest program online with an email address and password, the appropriate socket for the BOSCH EDC7UC31 ECU on our Ford Cargo 1838 is connected and the test is performed through a simple interface as if testing on the vehicle.

You can make the ECU connection using the socket for the BOSCH EDC7UC31 ECU or the universal cable supplied with your ECUTEST device that supports all vehicles.

After making the socket connections, follow the steps below to pinpoint ECU faults.

  • All parameters for the vehicle are loaded during ECU selection and the required information is automatically loaded from the server.
  • Thanks to the database on the server for the selected ECU (created by Nitro Mekatronik), the socket connection diagram is shown with photos and videos.
  • After connection, the voltages to be read from the ECU, injectors, sensor outputs, and valve outputs are displayed on screen.
  • If faults exist in the ECU, values in the faulty sections are shown in red.
  • When you hover over faults shown in red, you can view them on the diagram down to the part number.
  • All you need to do is replace the faulty integrated circuit.
  • When faults in the ECU are cleared, you will see the red indication correct itself on screen.
  • On the simulated ECU with the ECUTEST device, you can view all values as if working with the vehicle. A button acting as the accelerator pedal lets you test all moving sensors and parameters. Live values in the ECU can also be viewed with the ECU-Test device.
  • Pairing can be performed between the engine control unit and immobilizer, body, instrument cluster, ABS, etc.
  • Instead of replacing vehicle control units, repairing them eliminates the need for a new ECU expense.
  • With the ECU test device, sensor input and output information, voltage values, expected values, and measured values can be viewed. Signals are sent into the control unit through the simulator to perform the required analysis and triggers.
