What Is M2M?
M2M is of English origin. It is the abbreviation of Machine to Machine. It means machine-to-machine communication. Machines and systems need SIM cards in M2M format for information flow between them. In short, it refers to communication between devices and systems.
M2M in Vehicle Tracking Systems
The purpose of M2M in vehicle tracking systems is to enable the transmission of information such as location and km/speed that the tracking device will send to the server.
Vehicle tracking and M2M: vehicle tracking systems require machine-to-machine communication. This requirement is met by SIM cards in M2M format.
All data coming from the vehicle tracking device — location, mileage, altitude, speed, and all data from sensors connected to the vehicle — is transferred to servers in an up-to-date manner via M2M. M2M lines are used to perform this operation.
This is an indicator of how necessary M2M data lines are in vehicle tracking systems.
M2M lines are different from other lines. They provide secure communication.
M2M data lines enable the tracking software to transfer data through special tunnels so that data is transferred faster and more securely, with the ability to send and receive small amounts of data continuously every day.
This is proof of how necessary and important M2M data lines are in vehicle tracking systems.
M2M Service Providers
There are three GSM operators in our country that offer M2M data lines. These operators are Turkcell, Vodafone, and Türk Telekom. M2M lines can also be used corporately or individually.
There are price differences between individual and corporate use. Corporate rates are affordable and economical because the number of M2M lines is high.
Line Restrictions
You can set restrictions for M2M lines through the control panel. You can allow lines individually or as selected lines to send or receive SMS, and you can enable or disable international roaming for lines.
Areas of Use and Services
Vehicle Tracking System: M2M lines are widely used to transmit the instant locations of vehicles in the field to central servers. Location, speed, altitude, angle, and in-vehicle sensor information received by tracking devices via satellites is transmitted to central servers via M2M lines.
Home Appliances: With the development of technology, our home electronics have become smart. For example, remote command to a coffee machine or remote management of the air conditioner at home, communication with home alarm systems — smart remote management is provided on many home electronic devices.
Production Lines: The communication network required to collect and process data such as production output, scrap amounts, and fault codes from production areas also uses Industry 4.0 technology in the same way.
POS Devices: Mobile POS devices also use M2M technology. Mobile POS devices integrated with field management software transmit all transactions to cloud servers via the SIM card inside them.
Healthcare Sector: M2M technology is used safely in areas such as healthcare where even the smallest error can result in loss of human life.
Smart Automation System: Automation systems that transmit instant data are used in transportation and smart city systems.
Online Advertising Board: Changing advertisements and digital remote uploads are entirely performed with smart technological SIM cards.
Agriculture and Livestock: M2M data lines are used for data transfer and adjustments in soil moisture ratio, smart irrigation systems, and light adjustment in greenhouses and poultry houses.
