How to Perform Vehicle ECU Test on Desktop?

What is Vehicle ECU  and How Does It Work?

The electronic control units/module (ECU/ECM), which we call the vehicle ECU in the vehicles, controls the operation of the vehicle by constantly monitoring the parameters such as air temperature, barometric pressure, speed ... from the sensors connected to the vehicle and other ECUs.

The module may also be referred to as the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) if it controls the transmission along with the vehicle engine.

Examples of other modules are modules such as Body Control Module (BCM) and Suspension Control Module (SCM). New cars have an average of 70-80 ECUs like these.

The main link to which all electronic components are connected is the engine ECU , the ECU. In addition to the features we have mentioned above, the most important features are to provide fuel injection, to control the ignition timing, to provide control according to the data coming from the ABS module, which we call the ABS brake system, which controls the vehicle to stop safely without locking according to the rotation of the vehicle wheels.

Vehicle Computer (ECU) Test/Failure

It is inevitable that the engine ECU , which performs the functions mentioned above and provides a large communication network and control with other electronic equipment on the vehicle, fails from time to time. These faults are;

• It can be seen in the injection and fuel system of the vehicle, the vehicle may consume more fuel.

• Engine failure can be seen as a light on the vehicle's instrument panel.

• When the vehicle consumes fuel irregularly, it can be seen as an increase in the vehicle's emission values.

• If the required data from the crank and camshaft position sensors are not received correctly, the vehicle may start hard or come to a complete stop as a result of the ECU not being able to control it.

Tests called Vehicle ECU  Test / Vehicle ECU Test are carried out to find out where all these faults come from and what they are.

These tests are found by interpreting the codes received from the vehicle through fault detection devices by experts in the field and the fault is detected.

How to Perform Vehicle ECU  Test on Desktop?

In the Desktop Vehicle ECU Test, which we call the Desktop ECU test, in addition to the above-mentioned faults, when an ECU malfunction such as the vehicle's transmission module, suspension module, ABS module occurs, without the need to replace the ECU with a new one, to test the parameters coming to the ECU on the desktop as if it were working on the vehicle.

it is possible to perform fault finding. These tests are also carried out by experts in companies that perform Vehicle Electronic Expertise (Vehicle ECU Expertise).

What is Ecutest ECU Test Simulator?

Nitro Mechatronics, which closely follows the software and hardware developments in the automotive field, has produced the ECUTEST device, which is called ECU Programming abroad, which provides time and cost savings without the need to open the ECU through the interpretation of the information received from the ECU.
