Flex v8.12.0.0: BMW & Mini Bosch MDG1 Now in Bench | Nitro Bilişim

Magicmotorsport has released v8.12.0.0 for Flex, making the latest-generation Bosch MDG1 control units on BMW and Mini vehicles programmable directly in Bench mode. The manufacturer presents this solution as a world first in its own announcement.

The real gain is this: the new protocol works via pinout. That means there is no need to switch to Boot Glitch mode and no need to open the unit in order to unlock it — the ECU stays closed. In Magicmotorsport's own words: "Keep it closed."

What does this update change in practice?

The MDG1 family has long been one of the most demanding groups in chip tuning. Previously these units required either opening the ECU and unlocking it via Boot Glitch, or sending it to the RFT (Ready For Tuning) service. Both routes meant extra time, extra risk and, in most cases, extra cost.

With the new protocol, the job is completed on an unopened unit through a pinout connection. As Magicmotorsport summarises this update: fewer steps, fewer risks, shorter working time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to open the ECU for this protocol?

No. The new Bench protocol works via pinout; there is no need to switch to Boot Glitch mode or open the unit to unlock it. That is precisely the headline of this update.

Will I still need the RFT service?

For the five MDG1 units listed above, it is not needed within the scope of this protocol. For units not on the list or with a different hardware number, RFT may still be a valid route.

Which license is required?

One of FLS0.1M/S, FLS0.10M/S or FLS0.5M/S. We can check together whether your current license covers this protocol.

Does it work on every BMW and Mini model?

No. Coverage is limited to the listed MDG1 control units and the models that use them. The same model may carry a different unit depending on model year or equipment level, so verification via the ECU label is essential.
