AdBlue / SCR is the emissions system that reduces exhaust NOx by injecting a urea solution. The range of causes is wide, from an "AdBlue running low" warning to pump, NOx sensor, injector or fluid quality problems.
There is no promise of emissions deletion or SCR removal. The FAP is a separate subject (Renault FAP (DPF) Reset and Regeneration).
Symptoms
- AdBlue level or quality warning
- Remaining kilometres or start inhibit messages, depending on the model
- Related SCR and NOx DTCs
Diagnosis is carried out with Renault CLIP for Diagnostics and Programming. Software adaptation (Renault Adaptation (Learning)) may come up in some post-service steps, but a mechanical or chemical problem does not "go away" in software.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can AdBlue be deleted in software?
This page contains no emissions-defeat instructions or promises.
Does every warning mean a new pump?
No. A sensor, a line, crystallisation or a fluid quality issue can all be responsible.
Workshop notes
Poor quality AdBlue can lead to crystallisation.
Write steps on SGW vehicles may need an authorisation plan (the Renault Security Gateway (SGW)).
AdBlue and SCR problems are resolved through diagnosis, the correct service part and a lawful emissions framework.
