Renault Injector Coding (dCi) Guide

Renault Injector Coding (dCi) Guide

dCi injector coding is the process of introducing the individual calibration codes of common rail injectors to the ECU. Workshops often refer to these as "IMA codes". The menu is not identical across every engine family, so uncertain points are left hedged here.

The work is carried out through Renault CLIP for Diagnostics and Programming, and Renault Adaptation (Learning) may be required afterwards. It should not be confused with flashing (Renault ECU Programming (Flash)).

Cautions

  • Enter the codes in the correct cylinder order.
  • A wrong code can produce idle roughness or an emissions deviation.
  • Do not attribute FAP problems to injector codes alone (Renault FAP (DPF) Reset and Regeneration).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is coding mandatory on every dCi?

It depends on the engine family and the procedure. VIN-based verification is essential.

Is Renolink enough?

Coverage varies by model; compare it against the OEM route of the Renault CAN Clip Interface plus CLIP (Renault CAN Clip or Renolink).

Workshop notes

A mechanical injector leak will not be fixed by software.

SGW may restrict write access (the Renault Security Gateway (SGW)).

Correct injector coding needs the right codes, the right menu and a stable connection.
